He was predeceased by: his parents, Rita Shelton and Charles Burgess Shelton; and his sister Norma Cox. He is survived by: his wife Iva Shelton; his children, Joy Doss and Ryan Shelton; his grandchildren, Gabriel Doss, Graham Doss, Dylan Shelton, Kase Shelton and Rylan Shelton; his son-in-law Jason Doss; his niece Rita Riddle; Sheryl Fowler.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cobb Schools Foundation to support the Gerald Shelton Perseverance Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has persevered through extraordinarily difficult circumstances, reflecting the strength and determination Gerald demonstrated during his ten-year journey with Alzheimer's disease.
