He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Sidney Yates, Sr. and Mildred Brown Yates; his grandparents, Andrew Yates, Violet Yates, Michael Brown and Melvina Brown; and his sister Diane Yvonne Yates Burrus.
He is survived by: his sons, Albert Yates, III of Smithfield, NC and Christopher Glass (Lakeevia) of LaGrange, GA; his sisters, Vivian Jones of Douglasville, GA, Dr. Laura Carter of Douglasville, GA and Latanja Ligon of Pine Mountain, GA; his niece Brittany Coverson Bonner (Therron); his siblings-in-law, Michael Hillary Goodwin (Debra) of Plantersville, AL, Deborah G. Hall of Plantersville, AL, Charlotte Joan Goodwin of Northport, AL, Margie Faye Nelson (Arthur) of Montgomery, AL and Tarasha D. Williams (Kevin) of Abbeville, LA; his friend Dr. Jennifer Hayes of LaGrange, GA; and his godson Markeith Horace (Rosalene) of Columbus, GA. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
