She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Sammie Rollins and Suejette Mallory Rollins; her husband Lucius "Luke" Aaron Thornton; her siblings, Burnice Idolene Rollins, Charles Desmond Rollins and Jerry Donald Rollins; her niece Rhonda Rollins Hyatt; her nephew T. J. Hyatt; and her granddaughter-in-law Nancy Mathews Thornton.

She is survived by: her children, Susan Elizabeth Garrison and Alfred "Fred" Morris Thornton (Melody); her grandchildren, Michael Shane Thornton, Andy Todd Thornton and Christy Nicole Watkins; her great grandchildren, Whitney Paige Thornton, Brittney Nicole Watkins, Charles Shane Thornton and Zackary Luke Thornton; her great great grandchildren, Olivia Irene Bentley and Tyler Aust Bentley; and her sister Shirley Jane Hall (Billy Hall).
