He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Simpson, and Rosie Lee Simpson, Jr.; his wife Bernice Simpson; his children, Mike Hardy, Sr., Sedgwick "Sed" Simpson (Maria), Sherika McCutcheon, Billy Simpson, Jr. (Britannica) and Rico Simpson; his sister Jannis Cameron; his siblings-in-law, Joyce Dixon (David), Ruby Hollis, Ruth Gilbert, Patricia Smith, Christie Baker (Dexter), Cecil Gilbert (Margaret), Charles Gilbert, Sr., Milton Gilbert (Evelyn), Alfred Gilbert (Brenda), James Gilbert (Nina), Rev. Richard Gilbert and Don Gilbert; his cousins, Emma Delaney and Cindy Lee; and his close friends, T. Grady and Dee Hudson. He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren.
