With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ellen Louise Lanier Nichols (LaGrange, Georgia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 7, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid adieu to Ellen's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Ellen has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lafayette Eugene Lanier and Mary Parker Lanier; her husband William Jesse Nichols; her daughter Marianne Gooden; and her siblings, Mike Lanier and Faye Smith.
She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Moxon (late Clifford Moxon), Melanie Teel (late Al Teel), Penny Newman (Don) and Laura Nichols Cottle (Luke); her sisters, Helen Lewis and Frances Wright; and her son-in-law Steve Gooden. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.
