He is survived by: his wife Thomasina Thornton; his children, Ashley Thornton Bowles (Eric), Kimberly Newsom, Kelvin Thornton, Demar Epps (Latoya) and Delton Epps; his grandchildren, Korey Newsom, Wykeithia Newsom, Sade Huling, Jaiden Bradford, Javonna Bradford Chauncy Bradford, Jr., Jasmin Thornton, Delquavous Epps, Al'tesheyuna Davis, Kortarious Green, Shanaya Green, Jordan Green, Kingston Jackson, Jagger Epps, JaNiyah Grier, Kelvina Thornton, Kelvetrius Thornton, Kaosha Carter, Khalilah Thornton, Kelvin Thornton, Jr. and Kaliff Thornton; his sisters, Mamie Harris (Jerry), Mildred Jackson (Larry) and Carrie McLean (Roy); his in-laws, Vivian Baskerville (Jesse), Samuel Snellings (Nancy) and Patricia Reed; and his close friends, James Bailey and J. W. Baker, Jr.. He is also survived by twenty-eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
