He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Meyer and Lorena Meyer; his sisters, Mary Leach and Kathleen Meyer; and his stepson David Hunt.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Meyer; his children, David Meyer (Vicki) and Diana Meyer; his niece Dr. Rachelle Leach (Tom); his stepchildren, Diana Mitchell (Mark) and Allen Hunt (Patti); his stepdaughter-in-law Kathy Hunt; and his siblings-in-law, John Birch, William Longshore, Howard Longshore (Debbie), Hilton Longshore, Ted Longshore (Marsha), Dot Herring (Sonny) and Nita Adcock (John). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Higgins Funeral Home (506 Hill St, LaGrange, GA 30241). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
