He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Whitson and Hester Sanford Whitson; his former wife Cynthia Whitson; his wife Sheila Whitson; and his siblings, Thomas Jeffrey Whitson and Janice Faye Simpson.
He is survived by: his children, James Randall Whitson, Donna Whitson Lankford (Keith), Steve Garrett (Missy) and Jill Hale (Scott); his brother James Hugh Whitson; his grandchildren, Tyler Whitson, Garin Whitson, Gunner Lankford, Shelley Morrison (Phil), Lindsey Paige (Ryan), Holeigh Daniel (Walter), Pax Herrin (Julia) and Laura Anglin (Casey); and his great grandchildren, Reagan Morrison, Griffin Morrison, Mary Paxton Herrin, Royce Herrin, Vivian Herrin, Durahm Daniel, Skylar Daniel, Baylor Anglin and Brooks Anglin. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
