He was predeceased by: his parents, Octive Heard, and Alberta Heard, Sr.; his siblings, Dora Smith, Lorine Dennis, Willie Myra Brooks, Mary Jo Moore, Katherine Reed and Amos Heard; his children, Ronald Heard and Angela Harrell; and his grandson Damien Heard.
He is survived by: his wife Valerie Heard; his children, Oscar Heard, Jr., Michael Hart, Charlie Hart, Altonio Howell (Maggie), Clarissa Howell (Mequon), Demetrius Lovelace (Desiree) and Courtney Lovelace; his siblings, Columbus Heard and Josephine Moss; and his granddaughter Demetriuna Dukes. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
