She was predeceased by: her parents, Isaiah Steel and Tommie Lou Vaughn Steele; her former husband Doyal Smith; her husband Hugh Cornwell; and her siblings, Aliska Baker, James Steele, Tommie Melinda Steele (Angie Steele) and Scott Steele.
She is survived by: her children, Kevin Smith (Monica), Sandra "Sandy" Smith (Lane) and Deborah Fay Massengale (Dwayne); her siblings, Jack (Jo Steele), Elaine (Eddie Nave) and Jennifer K. Smith; and her grandchildren, Jessica Stafford (Mitch), Summer Edwards (Nick), Christopher Smith, Jonathan Smith, Amy Cotton, Wendy Johnson, Robin Johnson, Sarah Smith, Morgan Smith and Steele Smith. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews.
