He was predeceased by : his parent Versie Cook, (Harrell); his friend Bobo; his siblings, Lennie Cornelius, Hayward Cook and Howard Cook; and his brothers-in-law, Roy Thornton and J. F. Burkhalter.

He is survived by : his wife Helen Cook of Lakeland, Georgia; his son Mark Cook of Lakeland, Georgia; his sisters, Beatrice Thornton of Lakeland, Georgia and Louise Burkhalter of Lakeland, Georgia; and his close friend Betty McKinnon of Nashville, Georgia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
