She was predeceased by: her parents, John Saul Smith and Virginia B. Smith; and her sister Jacqulyn Smith King. She is survived by: her husband Trevor Gillies; her sons, Melvin T. Bettis and Trevor B. Gillies; her daughter-in-law Alisha Gillies; her sister Bernadene Pamela Talps; her niece Tonya Ramsey; and her nephews, Bernard Talps and Marcus Copeland. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law, extended family.
