He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lee Townsend and Daisy Patterson Townsend; and his wife Betty Jo Townsend. He is survived by: his children, Thomas Townsend Jr. and Lynn Harris; his grandchildren, Laurie Townsend, Jody Townsend, Amy Townsend, Mason Givens, Christopher Givens, Josh Harris, Jared Harris and Jason Harris; his great grandchildren, Debbie Townsend, Janet Townsend of Texas, Robert Pitts of Alabama and Diana Pitts of Marietta; his aunt Laura Barfield of Marietta; his cousins, Donna Maloney, Judy Tinsley and Mike Barfield; and his sister-in-law Carol Akins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
