He is survived by: his wife Shelba Ivey Merritt of Gainesville, GA; his daughters, Emily Roper (Chase) of Gainesville, GA and Alexis Phillips of Gainesville, GA; his grandchildren, Jaxon Roper, Barrett Roper, Ella Roper and Gray Phillips; his brother Terry Merritt; and his sisters-in-law, BJ Dye (Harold) and Jan Underwood (Charlie). He is also survived by aunts and cousins.
