He was predeceased by: his father Wesley Boyd Hawes; and his brother Rev. Wesley Jay Hawes. He is survived by: his mother Judith Speece Hawes of Circleville, OH; his siblings, Kirk A. Hawes, Jeff Hawes, Mary of Metairie, LA, Annisa Hawes Dudas and Lindsay of Circleville, OH; and his fiancée Susan Metzler of Circleville, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
