She was predeceased by: her parents, James Alvis Pursell Sr. and Arless Pursell (Spruill); her husband Brock Shafer; her son Bruce; and her brothers, James Alvis Pursell Jr. and Claude Pursell.

She is survived by: her daughter Beth Orr (Mike) of Onslow, IA; and her grandsons, Brock Orr (Maddy) of Cascade, IA and Brandon Orr of Onslow, IA.. She is also survived by brother & sister-in-laws, and nieces & nephews.
