He was predeceased by : his parents, Jerome L. and Girlie Hair Bessinger; and his siblings, Alice F. McKuhen, Dorothy G. Reed, Robert Bessinger and Rhett Bessinger.

He is survived by : his wife Brenda; his children, Robert Bessinger, Jeffery Bessinger (Tiffany), Freddie Jones (Dana), Frankie Jones and Deborah Pinion (Billy); and his sisters, Barbara A. Stewart and Jackie Lee Harter. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
