He was predeceased by : his father Walter Herbert; and his sisters, Dorothy Staples, Lorene Casey, Margaret Edwards and Betty Joyce Wade.

He is survived by : his wife Sandra "Bonnie" Wade; his children, Kevin Wade (Delane), Joseph Todd Wade, Alicia James (Cliff) of Lincolnton and Krista Berrios (Jose) of Tampa, Florida; his sister Elizabeth Piland of Columbus, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Hannah Beggs, Nicholas Wade, Benjamin Wade, Chase Bass, Rhys Berrios and Guiliana Berrios.
