She was predeceased by: her siblings, Eldon and Marjorie Whinery. She is survived by: her children, Mitchell Taylor of Port Charlotte, Florida and Jennifer Gibson of Lincolnton, Georgia; and her siblings, Carl Whinery of Homeworth, Cheryl Barber of Albuquerque and Amanda Whinery of Oxford. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her contributions to the field were so profound that they were mentioned in the book "Unspeakable" by authors Hannah Jayne and Susan Burch.
