He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary Ann Helms; his parents, James Edward and Grace Irene Helms, Sr. (Ray); his stepson Timothy Thacker; and his brother James E. Helms, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Lois Helms of Loganville, GA; and his children, Laurie (Kirk Arnold), Les (Nancy Helms), Larry (Sherry Helms) and Kim Barnard of Loganville, GA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missionaries, 6320 Sandy Creek Road, Loganville, GA 30052.
