He is survived by: his wife Libby Mathis; his children, Rachel Ratchford (Mel) of Wadley, GA, George Ratchford III (Lyndsey) of Cleveland, OH, Christopher Mathis (Taylor) of Jacksonville, FL and Derrick Mathis (Jordan) of Brooklet, GA.; his grandchildren, Will Kirk (Ansley), Lexi Kirk, Ivy Grace Mathis, Charlie Mathis, Nolan Mathis, Finn Mathis and Thea Ratchford; and his siblings, Steve Mathis (Lynn) of Gibson, GA, Susan Bonee (William) of Crossville, TN and Lynn Mathis of Byram, MS. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (101 E 9th St, Louisville, GA 30434).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church Louisville.
