He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Shivers Peel, Sr. and Martha Brown Peel; his grandson Justin Devore; and his siblings, Sarah "Peggy" Peel and Robert J. Peel.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly Shelnut (Michael) of Winterville, Natalie Johnson (Wayne) of Augusta and Ashley Peel Griffin (Dana) of Statesboro; and his brother Leslie Peel (Vicki Drew Mitchell) of Vidette. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.
