He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Otis Smith and Queen Hughes Smith; and his brothers, Daniel L. Smith and Jack W. Smith. He is survived by: his wife LaWana Cook Smith of Lyons; his children, Chris Edward Smith of Lyons and Catherine Elizabeth Smith Clayton (Michael) of Columbia; his grandchildren, Chelsey Clayton (Eric Fitzsimmons), Scarlett Clayton Collins (Buford) and Michael William Dean Clayton; his great grandchild Colton Clayton Stuckey of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister Clara Dean Helms of Lyons; and his friend Sam NeSmith.
