He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elton Powell and Edna Coe Powell. He is survived by: his wife Ellie Palmer Powell of Lyons; his sons, James "J. E." Powell (Pat) of Lyons and Jerry Powell (Patricia) of Mt. Vernon; his grandchildren, Jamie Powell (Jennifer) of Oak Park and Brittany Powell of Lyons; and his siblings, Harry Powell (Lillian) of Lyons, Nevelyn Powell Hackle of Jeffersonville and Louise Powell Poole (Billy) of Lyons. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home (310 North St W, Vidalia, GA 30475). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
