He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Pilkinton Mays of Hawkinsville, Georgia; his son Charles Mays, Jr. of Hawkinsville, Georgia; his granddaughter Catherine Mays; and his sister-in-law Faye Pilkinton.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery (61 Friendship Church Rd, Hawkinsville, GA 31036).
