He was predeceased by: his parents, Avie Cates and Elsie Bivins Cates; his wife Emily Jane Coyle Cates; and his son Arnold "Andre" Reece Cates. He is survived by: his son David Cates (Norma); his grandchildren, Melissa Cates (Frank Vegh), Amie Cates and Joshua Cates; and his great grandchild Harrison Vegh. He is also survived by many other extended family and friends.
