He was predeceased by: his parents, H. B. Barnes, Sr. and Emma Curtis Barnes; and his siblings, Emogene Daniel, Nancy McDonald, Barnes, Jr., Don Barnes and Jack Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Dolores Barnes of Macon; his children, Michael C. Barnes (Billie) of Adel, Georgia, Katherine Lowe (Byron) of Brunswick and Janet Poland (Kenny) of Marietta, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Julie Merwin (Scott), Nathan Barnes (April), Ashley Burns (Matt), Ryan Williams (Sally), Shane Poland (Beka) and Corey Lowe (Christine). He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Ga 31204.
