She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Samuel Preston Sanders and Annie Mae Biles Sanders; her husband Johnie McDonald; her stepchildren, Stephen McDonald, Louise Phillips (Jim) and Patricia Knobf; and her siblings, Martha Brice and Howard Sanders (Judy). She was also cherished by grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

“Dearest Family, I am so saddened to hear of Ms Evelyn's death. I am the worship leader at JWV in Macon. Ms Evelyn never missed a communion service. She was a faithful attendee until her health failed. She started sitting in the chair outside her door,with her hymnal and Bible in hand. On February 6, 2022, Ms Evelyn received communion in her bed. I know where she lives today, and as I shake my head in disbelief, Ms. Evelyn is lifting her hands in praise of our Lord. May God grant you peace.”
