He was predeceased by: his parents, George Edward and Theresa Robider Markwalter; and his brothers, Richard "Dick" Markwalter, Robider "Robie" Markwalter and Raphael "Ray" Markwalter.

He is survived by: his wife Lucy Webb Markwalter; his children, Kathryn Carpenter (Walter), Lynn Rostvold (Mark), Andrea Lavoie (Anthony) and Brian Markwalter (Holland); his grandchildren, Carson (Sarah), Peirce (Rebekah), Kathryn, Ellen (Coy), Corwin, Chester (Kelly), Daniel (Christine), Kyle (Gabriela) and Theresa; and his caregiver Cherry Causey. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, his sisters in law and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Riverside Cemetery.
