He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Purkey and Virginia Purkey; and his brother Gary Purkey. He is survived by: his wife Betty Purkey; his daughter Carol Shugart (Gene) of Perry; his grandsons, Eric Dees (Dana) and Cody Hammock (Samantha); his great grandchildren, Trent of Warner Robins and Landon Dees of Warner Robins; and his sister Shirley Ferguson of Louisville, Tennessee.
