He was predeceased by: his parents, Mitchel Griffin and Geraldyne Griffin; his former wife Elva Johnson Griffin; his wife Joy Battle Griffin; and his son Johnny Battle.
He is survived by: his daughters, Katherine Griffin of Richmond Hill, Pamela (Rob Nicholson) of Atlanta and Barbara (Morgan Mohr) of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Scott (Christy Chapman), Terri Tyson, Koban Battle, Lizzy Keene, Doug Danat, Crystal Lee (Phil Villavicencio) and Daniel Nicholson; and his sisters-in-law, Caroleen Merrill and Amelia Waters. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
