He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cummings Jr. and Maggie Simmons Cummings; and his siblings, Janice "Cookie" Cummings, Vivian Simmons, Denise Chambliss and Wayne "Duke" Cummings.
He is survived by: his children, James Cummings IV, Erica Whalen, Ametress Lynn (Larry) and Tekela Smith (Zuri); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Katelyn, Jawah, Zuri Jr., Carla, Zan, Zackery and Zayden; and his sister Cathy Brown (Benjamin). He is also survived by great-grandchildren, aunts, an uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Gray Chapel AME Church (635 Hall St, Macon, GA 31217). A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at the Macon Memorial Park Cemetery (4101 Mercer University Dr, Macon, GA 31204).
