He is survived by: his wife Juliette Smith Burns of Macon; his children, Derry Burns III (Mary Hope) of Dallas, Texas, Allison Gummer (Steve) of Lancaster and Matthew Parker Burns (Lucerica) of Penn Valley, California; his grandchildren, Parker Burns, William Burns, Anna Burns, Aiden Gummer, Liam Gummer and Maria Burns; and his sister Hazel Struby (Neil) of Gray, Georgia. He is also survived by four nieces and a nephew.
