He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leon Sego and Naomi Ruth Easters; his brother Ronnie Sego; his grandson Brandon Lynn; and his daughter Dana Beck.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Kay Sego; his children, James "Jim" Carlton Sego, Jr. and Dawn Brackett (CR); and his grandchildren, Alyssa (Adam), Dalton (Tiffany), Candice, Brittany, Becca, Kayla, Preston, Rylan, Raegan, Mark, Misty (Johnathon) and Megan (Forrest). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
