He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Gibson and Sarah Gibson; and his sister Patricia Killingsworth. He is survived by: his wife Helen J. Gibson of Macon; his children, Melanie Gibson Jones (Jim) of Mocksville and John William Gibson Jr. (Rhonda) of Oak Ridge; his grandchildren, Dustin Jones (Lauren) of Fort Worth, Nick Jones of Mocksville, Elijah Jones (Mary Grace) of Lowgap, Dr. Tiffany Warren (Turner) and John William "Trey" Gibson III of Nashville, Tennessee; and his great grandchildren, Scarlett Jones, Bo Jones, Sheppard Jones, Jack Jones and Jett Jones. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hart's Mortuary (6324 Peake Rd, Macon, GA 31210). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rock Springs Church, 1415 Bass Rd, Macon, GA 31210.
