She was predeceased by: her parents, William Curtis Whitaker and Nettie Sweat Whitaker Moore; and her husband Otis J. Smith. She is survived by: her children, Randy "Smitty" Smith and Cindy S. Evans (Jeff); her brother Michael; her sister-in-law Ellen Whitaker; her grandchildren, Chad Evans (Patricia), Chris Evans (Rebecca) and Brandy McDaniel (Brent); and her great grandchildren, Layne McDaniel, Avery, Chandler, Reid, Chase and Natalie Evans.
