He is survived by : his daughter Michelle H. Ponsell (Dave); his niece Melanie Hudgins Ebanks (Kent); his siblings, Gerald Hugh Hudgins (Bonnie) of Byron, GA and Ann Palmer of Macon; and his half-siblings, Steve Hudgins of Byron, GA, Sid Hudgins of Otis Orchards, WA, Sheila Harris of Macon, GA and Kay Hudgins of Macon, GA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“Wayne has been a wonderful friend and neighbor for 38 years. He was the type of friend who did practical things that really enhanced your life. When we first moved across the road from him, he brought his tractor over and helped us make our driveway. We had a blast riding horses with him every weekend for years and especially our traditional New Years Day rides. Thank you, Wayne! You will be missed! Love you!”

“Susan & I live across from Wayne on Franklin Rd. We met Wayne at his barn before we built our house in the 80’s. He loved animals, especially horse back riding. He would often have bon fires at his barn & lead midnight horse back rides. His mischievous laugh (cackle) was infectious and always came with a twinkle in his eyes. Many stories can be told. RIP friend. Harold Causey”

“I can’t begin to emphasize the loss of Wayne on Franklin Road . We moved here in 1988. We built our house and yes he put in all the beautiful floors and carpet . He was our dear friend for so many years . Mark retired last year and two months ago he and Wayne redid our barn together.. Wayne as we say often was the Mayor of Franklin Road. When we had storms and trees fell he would crank up his old tractor and clear the road . There is and will be an empty loss here . Forever. God love him.”
