She was predeceased by: her husband James Stanford Barfield; her parents, Carey J. Brewton and Malatha Lockler Brewton; and her siblings, Fontaine Brewton and Karen DuSapin.

She is survived by: her stepdaughter Bonnie Bunton; her children, Carey Barfield (Natalie), Dale Waters (Mark) and Jana Simpson (Mark); her sister Stephanie Swanson (Larry); her brother-in-law John Barfield (Jane); her grandchildren, Eathan Barfield (Jaiyana), Rhett Barfield, Noah Barfield (Ansley), Michael McBrayer, Jason McBrayer, Tiffany Barnes (Ken), Melody Morales (Tony) and Cory Simpson (Kaitlyn); and her great grandchildren, Maverick Barfield, Maezie Barfield, Liam Simpson, Dakota Minshew, Alexis Easterling (Nick), Ethan Morales and Gavin Barnes. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
