She was predeceased by: her parents, Colothree Carter and Lillian Louise Brewer Carter; her husband Grady Spires; and her sisters, Betty Dent and Ethel Shelley.

She is survived by: her son Shelby Spires; her grandson Tim Spires; and her brothers, Rev. Charles Carter and Jerry Carter (Peggy).
