He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles William Stokes, Sr. and Naomi Gentry Stokes; his wife Dorothy Ruth Vann Stokes; his daughter Ann Grace Stokes; and his brothers, Stanley Stokes and Hubert Stokes.
He is survived by: his children, Harris Stokes (Jean), Brenda Lambert (Jim), Susan Thigpen (Bob) and Stuart Stokes (Kim); his grandchildren, Will Stokes (Regina), Christy Spurlin (Pearce), Brad Whitfield (Dana), Meredith Voyles (Kevin), Brian Horne (Jessica), Rebecca Windham (Troy), Robyn Tanner (Tony), Matthew Stokes (Kristen), Bethany Hodges (Jonathan) and Zack Stokes (Lucy); and his brother Charles Stokes. He is also survived by twenty-one great grandchildren.
