He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Brown and Hallie Lavenia Arnold Ballard; his son Jimmy Shumans Ballard; and his siblings, Walter E. Ballard, Sr., Bobby Joe Ballard and Annette Ragan.
He is survived by: his wife Jimmie Annette Shumans Ballard of Macon; his children, Raymond O. Ballard, Jr. (Penny), Rana Ballard Thigpin (John) and L. Brian Ballard (Sara); his daughter-in-law Jennifer Rutledge Ballard of Macon; his grandchildren, Raymond O. Ballard, III (Tindal), Amelia Ballard Thomason (Tyler), Allie Ballard, John Gordon Thigpin, Wimberly Thigpin, Morris, Cate Ballard, AnaGrace Ballard and Samuel Ballard; and his brother Larry Ballard (Patsy) of Lizella. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
