He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Lloyd Smith Sr. and Mattie Lee Hancock; his wife Annie Elizabeth Sorrell Smith; his daughter Debra Ruth Hall; his granddaughter Debra Lee Heald; his siblings, S. L., Kyle, Glen, Johnnie Smith, Myrtle Fausnight and Tavie Allen; and his son-in-law David Harp.
He is survived by: his children, Theresa Harp, Kathy Criswell David Cook, Vickie Logue (Scott), Kristy Ard, Sherrill K Smith, Jr. (Elizabeth Batchelor) and Steve Smith (Jacopa); and his sister Ruth Williamson. He is also survived by Twenty-one grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
