He is survived by: his children, Michelle Bates (Jason Hinkle), Shelby Bates and Angela Williams (Lee); his grandsons, Shane Newsome, Ethan Newsome, Brandon Newsome and Anthony Bates; his siblings, Renell Bates, Teresa Purser (Millard) and Cassandra Phillips; and his girlfriend Karen Newsome.
