He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph James and Mary James; his wife Jo James; his daughter Angel Stancil; his sisters, Catherine Key and Hazel Williams; and his son-in-law Steve Dunn.

He is survived by: his daughter Cindy Dunn of Manchester, GA; his grandchildren, Bethany Martin (Jared), Jennifer Rogers, Gavin Dunn, Greg Rogers, Skylar Stancil and Laine Stancil; his great grandchildren, Logan O'Hara, Landon O'Hara, Olivia Martin, Malia Robinson, Kayden Phillips, Annaleigh Phillips and Vayla Langston; and his great great grandchildren, Braelynn O'Hara and Drake O'Hara. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
