He was predeceased by: his parents, Hattie Pearl Blake and Ernest Melton Lyde; his former wives, Dehrabelle Belfort and Katherine Lu Moliner; his son Thomas Ray; his siblings, Bertha Jewel (Nolan Trantham), Blake Melton (Ruth Nell Burk), Noble Alton (Winona Bomar), Julia Alene (Avril Winifred Covey) and Betty Jean (Henry "Shorty" McGaugh); his son-in-law Anthony McCurdy; and his granddaughter Jennifer McCurdy (Patrick McCarrell).

He is survived by: his former wife Judy Jackson; his children, David Belfort (Toshiko Chiba), Paul (Carolyn Bryant), Carol McCurdy, Patricia (John Osborn), Debra (Wayne Gerber), Doris (James Gordon) and Billie Lyde; his grandchildren, Mari, Hideyuki, Miyuki Belfort (Daiko Hachiya), Scott McCurdy (Amanda), Rebecca Osborn (Joshua Frymark), Christina Osborn, Robert Osborn (Kimberly Bittner), Stephen Gerber, Nathan Gerber (Dorina Bugledits), Stuart Gordon, James Lyde (Holly McDaniel), Elizabeth Lyde (Roy Urqhart), Claire Pittman (Colin Campbell), Ryan and Casey Pittman; and his great grandchildren, Caitlin McCarrell (Connor Johnson), Caroline, Tanner, Tucker McCarrell, Tyler, Zachary McCurdy, Austin, Emma Osborn and Alistair Pittman-Campbell.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, contribution to the insurance industry, and spirit of travel.
