He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard L. McCown and Maude McCown; his grandson Jacob Dennis; and his siblings, Peggy Freeman, Butch McCown and Kenneth McCown.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda McCowen of Marietta, GA; his children, Renee Dennis (Tony), Mike LeSesne (Sonya), Keith McCowen (Julie), Beth Wright (Jeff) and Kimberly Reed (Matt); and his siblings, Karen Norton, Jerry McCown, Richard McCown and Paul McCown. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
