He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Albert Nichols and Sarah Warren Nichols; and his brothers, Ronald, Donald and Billy.

He is survived by : his wife Lila Nichols; his children, Heather Ross (Craig) and Nick Nichols (Katie); his stepson Corey Takes (Hannah); his grandchildren, Will Ross, Anna Nichols, Mitch Ross, Addie Rose Nichols, Gracie Mae Takes and Cole Takes; and his sister Linda Self (Bill).
