He is survived by: his wife Patricia Waits Johnston; his children, Kirk Johnston (Denise) of Lancaster, SC, Keith Johnston (Jen) of Mableton, GA and Kari Arnold (Bruce) of Kennesaw, GA; his grandchildren, Joshua (Darcy) of San Francisco, CA, Matthew (Amelia) of Charleston, SC, Brittany Jackson of Kennesaw and Katie Ash (Keith) of Kennesaw; his great grandchildren, Bohannon, Carolina Ash of Kennesaw, GA, Hampton Johnston of Charleston, SC and Theo Johnston of San Francisco, CA.; and his sister Jocelyn Johnston Espy of Americus, GA.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the New Salem Baptist Church (836 New Salem Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30152). A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Cheatham Hill Memorial Park (1861 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, GA 30064).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ross Magoulas Music Scholarship Fund at Berry College.
