We are sad to announce that on July 17, 2025, at the age of 78, Melissa Walker Appleyard of Marietta, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jerry Olin Walker and Velma Lee Walker; her husband Peter Joesph Appleyard; and her sister Marsha Walker Hawk. She is survived by: her children, Karen Hamby Gray (Ed), Cathy Hamby Gregg (Steve), Marty Hamby (Jessica), Jessica Appleyard and Katie Appleyard Varner (Jeremy); and her grandchildren, Wil Gray, Payton Gray, Catherine Gregg, Stephen Gregg, Jr., Madison Hamby, Stella Hamby, Charlie Hamby, Atticus Varner, Christine Hampton, Samantha Hughes and Jennifer Chandler. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the McKoon Funeral Home (38 Jackson St, Newnan, GA 30263). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the McKoon Funeral Home Chapel (38 Jackson St, Newnan, GA 30263).
