Ronald H. Katila Obituary

Ronald H. KATILA, 86, of Milton, GA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA died Sunday, August 31, 2025 in Sullivan House Senior Living in Marietta, GA.

Born September 9, 1938, in Olean, NY, he was the son of Harvey Arnold Katila and Grace Prindle Katila. On December 21, 1963, in Columbus, OH, he married Carol Lee Wright, who predeceased him on June 25, 2016. Ron was Senior Counsel for Alcoa, Inc. in the Legal Department for 39 years. He attended The Ohio State University for both undergraduate and Law School and remained an avid OSU football fan and loyal alum.

Ron continued to be active throughout his adult life and could proudly claim to be a member of the Olympic Men's Senior Softball league, and enjoyed playing paddle tennis, tennis, mountain biking, and skiing. Anyone who knew Ron understood his passion for travel both within the United States and abroad and passed that enthusiasm onto his daughters and grandchildren. He lived the work - life balance with the life/fun part always winning out. His zeal for sports included his love of all things Pittsburgh including the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates and attending as many high-level competitions including several Super Bowls, Olympics, and U.S Tennis Opens. Ron also placed great importance on education and continued his own pursuit of knowledge by taking a variety of courses in retirement.

Surviving are: two daughters, Lee Ann (David) Suplee and Courtney (Doug) Madison; and five grandchildren, Brooke, Kathryn, Cole, Kendall, and Kameron.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 15, 2025 in Sartwell Creek Union Church, 980 Sartwell Creek Rd, Port Allegany, PA 16743. Rev. Allen Long will officiate. Burial will be in Sartwell Creek Cemetery.
